This is for me...

Some thoughts I need to remind myself about how to finish well.

Unbelievable, almost, to recognize that time is moving so swiftly. With the writing of these thoughts, I'm getting a bit melancholy thinking about all that I still want to do and the people with whom I want to do them. Because I have so much to do, I really want to be sure that I drink in every moment- every conversation, every conflict, every dream I get to share with others. And I would be a poor Christ-follower (I'm already one of the worst) if I didn't take a minute to remind us all of these few things that we say we believe:

1) God is real; 2) Jesus is alive; 3) the commands of scripture are not mere suggestions to be considered, and they certainly don't need to be updated by our culture; 4) we should fear no man, even if the cost of death; 5) we are called to be salt and light, and this world is very rotten and dark. Living as a follower of Christ may lead us to rotten or dark places- if that is so, let us stand in confidence, and not concern ourselves with the opinions of others. Rather, let us be concerned about offending the one true God, who bought us with a price, and is now preparing a place for us with Him when our race here is complete.

I don't want to sound overly-spiritual; those who know me know I am little more than a clown. However, as I sense the finish line just a ways down the track, I want to be sure I finish well, having no strength left, and having left nothing undone for the Kingdom.

Let's go make some music for Him...
