Seven of Them... Happily

Three days ago, Jane and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. We celebrated with family at a lodge overlooking a massive lake and river complex. We had a great time together, but... really... forty years?

That is almost too much to wrap my head around. Forty years is a long, long time... and I barely feel 40 years old, much less being 40 years married to the same woman.

A good friend and I share a joke when we talk about how long we have been married... "We've been married 40 years... seven of them, happily." It is funny to us, because we know we married above our pay grade, but in real life, probably isn't as funny because many people are not blessed in their marriages the way we are.

Jane and I are blessed with beautiful children and their families, a church that loves us, and a bright future, however long it lasts. And we are going to make 50 years of marriage... all 50 of them, happily.
